About Damai Student Leaders
Damai Student Leaders are a group of students that have shown potential and the capability to lead by exhibiting exemplary behaviour. Handpicked by Teachers and nurtured by our 4 teachers I/C, we have grown to a strength of more than 100 members. Potential Students are nominated by their teachers in Secondary 2.
Being the role models of the school, we strive for excellence and every member is placed into a committee which they specialise in. Here in Student Leaders, we learn to lead by enriching courses conducted both intra school (e.g SL-term Camp) and inter-school (e.g Investiture of other schools). Thinking Skills are further enhanced in occasional brainstorming sessions to improve the welfare of the students in Damai. Members are also given the opportunity to take charge of events, including the planning and executing process, giving them exposure to events running, preparing them to be leaders of the future.
The 4 committees are namely:
FUNCTIONS
WELFARE
DISCIPLINE
CLASS COMMITTEE
FUNCTIONS COMMITTEE
Functions Committee Members specialises in organising big/formal events for the school such as Speech Day & Damai's Anniversary, Prom Night, Meet the Parents Session etc. The committee members are challenged to improve and work on the ideas for these formal occasions. They also form the manpower for usherers when needed. Hence, they are equipped with good communication skills.
WELFARE COMMITTEE
Welfare Committee Members specialises in informal events such as Sports Day, Teachers Day, Chinese New Year etc. The committee members brainstorm for new ideas on these events so as to keep these events interesting and fun. There is an innovation branch of the Welfare Committee that proposes new events for the school that will keep the student body interested in school events. Some innovative ideas that have been implemented are the Student Activity Centre & Sushi Stall. Hence, they are equipped with good inter-personal skills and entrepeneurship skills. The welfare committee members work hand in hand with the function members to achieve their goal of ensuring the welfare of Damaians.
DISCIPLINE COMMITTEE
Discipline Committee Members specialises in updating and maintaining the school rules of Damai. The committee members receive feedback of the school rules and from these feedbacks, they work on amending the school rules until it is both comfortable for the students and the committee. The discipline committee members work hand in hand with the Year Heads and Form Teachers to ensure the class discipline. The members also handle latecoming as well as gate duty. They also try to find means of talking disobedient students out of their bad behaviour. Hence, they are also equipped with good inter-personal skills.
CLASS COMMITTEE
Class Committee Members specialises in mentoring the class and keeping the class morale and spirit high at all times. Inter-personal skills are nurtured in them. ......(More info to come)

Above the members, lies the Executive Committee Members. (ExCo)
These members have shown outstanding performance throughout their one year of membership in Student Leaders, and are then chosen to join the Executive Committee, where they will be either the Overall Head of one of the 4 committees, or run the whole student leaders body as the President or Vice-President. The ExCo members are expected to be a notch higher than ordinary Student Leaders and they are the role models for Student Leaders Members.

Redesigning of Blog
The Student Leader's blog has been redesigned.
A short description of the blog's design. This blog is simple and yet relays the message of how we are straightforward and how Student Leaders handle events, simple yet the tasks are done. The maroon and white theme follows our school uniform and shows our passion and that we strive for excellence in serving the school. The orange words show that we are lively and creative.
Any more infomation and meetings will be posted by us Excos.
Cheers,
Johann and Gerald.

The First Student Leaders Post
Hello guys, Today's the creation of the student leader's blog.
As of next year, all student leader related activities will be posted here.
We have just completed our student leader's 2009 camp. This camp's objective is to inculcate skills that are needed for leaders. As student leaders of the school, they act as the role models for the pupils of Damai Secondary. Good discipline, a sense of Responsibility and Teamwork should be inculcated in a Student Leader. In the near future, the roles of student leaders will expand to better serve Damai as leaders. This 3D2N camp will be used to instil greater leadership and better teamwork amongst one another. Planning for future events will be included too. To understand the importance of leadership, cultivate greater leadership from within and feel a sense of belonging to the Student Leaders’ body.
